Can I tell you something that might be a little unpopular? I think spring cleaning gets way too much hype.
Every year, the idea of a full top-to-bottom house overhaul pops into my head right around April β and almost every year, life has other plans. And I used to feel a little guilty about that.
But here's what I've figured out after a lot of grace-giving to myself: a home doesn't need to be scrubbed from floor to ceiling to feel refreshed.
It just needs a few intentional shifts.

So instead of a daunting spring cleaning list, here are 5 small, low-effort things you can do this week to make your home feel like spring has arrived β even if the baseboards haven't been touched since 2023. (No judgment, friend.)
Swap out your throw blankets: Pack up those heavy, dark-colored winter throws and pull out something lighter β creams, soft greens, blush tones. This one swap does more for the feel of a room than you might think. β
Open the windows β even for 10 minutes: Air circulation is underrated as a homemaking tool. Even a short window-open session clears out that winter stuffiness and makes everything smell fresher without a single cleaning product. β
Put something fresh on the kitchen counter: A lemon in a bowl. A small bunch of tulips. A simple candle that smells like clean linen. Your kitchen counter is prime real estate for seasonal mood-setting. β
Do a 15-minute 'release round': Walk through your main living spaces with a bag and let go of anything that feels heavy, cluttered, or winter-ish. Dried-out pens, random junk mail, that candle that burned down to nothing. Releasing clutter is one of the fastest ways to reset the energy of your home. β
Take a look outside, too: Once you're feeling the spring energy inside, it's a great time to turn your attention to the yard. I wrote a full spring yard cleanup guide that walks you through it in a totally doable way β
βyou can read it right here. It's one of my favorites because it makes the outdoor refresh feel approachable, not overwhelming.
That's it! Five things, a little intention, and your home will feel like a whole new season. πΏ
